  Die Colonien Süd- und Nord-Katharinenstadt bilden eine Ortschaft, welche das Ansehen einer
Kreisstadt hat. Außer den beiden Ev. Kirchen findet sich hier auch eine Röm. Kathol. Kirche.
Wöchentlich ist hier ein großer Markt, der von Deutschen und Russen besucht wird. Einige
Bewohner des Ortes sind Kaufleute und halten Läden, in denen Lebensmittel, Schnittwaaren und
selbst Luxusartikel nicht schlechter und nicht theuerer als in Ssaratow zu haben sind.
  Die Ortschaft liegt 1 Werst von der Wolga und 15 Werst vom nächsten Pastorate. Sämmtliche
zu den Kirchspielen Süd- und Nord-Katharinenstadt gehörigen Colonien liegen am Flusse Groß-
Karaman oder Telausa, 10 – bis 12 Werst von der Wolga. Früher gab es hier 2 besondere
Gemeinden, eine Ev. Reform, und eine Ev. Luth.; jede hatte ihre eigene Kirche und ihren
eigenen Seelsorger. Der Reformirte Prediger besorgte die Reformirten in allen Colonien auf der
Wiesenseite. Später vereinigten sich in diesen Colonien überall die Reformirten und Lutheraner
zu gemeinsamem Pfarrwesen, ohne jedoch ihre confessionellen Unterschiede aufzugeben, und so
ist auch in Katharinenstadt eine Kirchen- und Pfarrgemeinschaft entstanden.

         Church school: 253 children, 2 teachers, of their own locale.
 The Colonies Süd- and Nord-Katharinenstadt form a locality, which has the reputation of a
district town. In addition to the two evangelical churches there is also a Roman Catholic church.
Weekly here there is a large market, which is visited by Germans and Russians. Some residents
of the place are merchants and keep shops, in which food, dry goods and even luxury items
which are no worse and no more expensive than in Saratov.
 The locality lies 1 Werst from the Wolga and 15 Werst from the nearest pastorate. All colonies
belonging to the parishes of Süd- und Nord-Katharinenstadt are located on the river Groß-
Karaman or Telausa, 10 to 12 Werst from the Wolga. Previously there was here 2 special
congregations, an evangelical Reformed, and an evangelical Lutheran; each had their own church
and their own pastor. The Reformed preacher took care of the Reformed in all the colonies on
the Wiesenseite. Later, in these colonies, Reformed and Lutherans everywhere united in
common parishes, but without giving up their confessional differences, and so also in
Katharinenstadt a church and parish community has emerged.
