People in Nieder-Monjou about 1910
This photograph is believed to have been taken in 1910 when Johann (John) David Anschütz (Anschutz), 1866 - 1955, and his father, Christian Anschütz (Anschutz), 1835 - 1925, visited their birthplace, Nieder-Monjou. The man in the back row in western garb is Johann (John) David Anschütz (Anschutz), 1866 - 1955. The man to his right (also with a cigarette) is Johann David (E) Anschütz (Anschutz), 1876 - 1972. Christian Anschütz (Anschutz) and his family immigrated to the United States in 1878. Johann David (E) Anschütz (Anschutz) and part of his family immigrated to the United States in 1923. The remainder of his family followed in 1924. Other individuals in the photograph are unknown.
The typical caps and long black boots worn by the Volga Germans are illustrated in this picture. One gentleman is smoking the long curved stem pipe which is also characteristic of the Volga Germans.
Conrad Funk Family
Seated on the far right is Conrad Funk. Seated next to him is his wife, A. Catherina Bohnart. Standing in the rear on the far right is Dorothea Funk 1882 - 1953. Other individuals in the photograph are unknown.

In the front row are Dorothea Bisterfeld 1882 - 1972, Heinrich Muhl ? - ca 1942, Johannes Muhl 1891 - 1973. In the back row are Katharina Muhl and Henriette Muhl.

Christian Biesterfeld
Christian Biesterfeld 1874 - 1957 with grandchildren, Carole Elizabeth Biesterfeld 1943 - 1990 and Gloria Jean Biesterfeld. This photograph was probably taken at Dorrance, Russell County, Kansas. Notice the limestone dwelling. There are so few trees in the area that early settlers even used the native limestone for fence posts many of which survive today.

Seated in the center are Anna Marie (Maria Mary) Anschütz (Anschutz) 1862 - 1933, Christian Anschütz (Anschutz) 1835 - 1925, Marie (Maria Mary) Catherine Müller (Miller) 1838 - 1904, and Anna Elisabeth "Lizzie" Anschütz (Anschutz) 1858 - 1942. Standing in the rear are Johann (John) David "Dave" Anschütz (Anschutz) 1866 - 1955, Johann Heinrich (Henry) Anschütz (Anschutz) 1870 - 1963, Johann Nicolaus (Nicholas) Anschütz (Anschutz) 1874 - 1970, and Johann Carl "Charley" Anschütz (Anschutz) 1859 - 1938.
