Nieder-Monjou in the early 1900's ...
The original of this photograph was purchased at a Bisterfeldt sale by a Russell, Kansas and former Nieder-Monjou resident.
"The reason I'm writing both of you at the same time is that I have come
across something that would be of interest to both of you. I don't know
if either of you knew or were aware of a Butch Miller in Wilson. About
15 to 20 years ago my dad had a copy made of a picture that Butch had of
Nieder-Monjou. I was not aware of the picture until recently. My
sister had taken the picture at that time and had it colorized. Of
course, that many years ago they didn't have the computer technology and
it was done with an airbrush and lost a lot of detail. I scanned it and
have sent both the color version as well as making it B&W. I really
don't have any other info, except I still have an uncle Dave (90+ years
old) that said it was of Nieder-Monjou."
Email from Jim Funk of WaKeeney, Kansas, to Steven Grau and Chris
Stoppel, 28 Sep 2000.
The Butch Miller to whom Jim refers is Heinrich (Henry) "Butch" Müller
(Miller), 1886 - 1983. Heinrich (Henry) "Butch" Müller (Miller)
immigrated to the United States in 1912.
